GDE registration for Grade 8

The Gauteng Department of Education (GDE) online application system, or GDE registration for Grade 8 2027, is now open to all learners wanting admission for Grade 8 by next year. Parents can now apply to secure space for their child’s admission from Wednesday, 5 August 2026, at 8h00 and will close on Friday, 4 September 2026, at midnight.

Grade 8 marks an important step as students move into high school. In this article, I’ll outline the process for securing admission for your scholar. Keep in mind that the improved GDE online system expects parents to apply, regardless of whether the school combines Primary and High school.
