Gauteng Learners, Get Ready to Code & Build! #GDESciBOTICS 2025 Registration Open!
SchoolClick is always on the lookout for exciting initiatives happening in education around the world, and this one from South Africa really caught our eye. The Gauteng Department of Education is running a brilliant coding and robotics competition for learners, showing a real commitment to preparing young people for the future.
The #GDESciBOTICS Competition 2025 is open to all students in Grades R-11 (that’s roughly Reception to Year 12 in the UK system) attending public schools in the Gauteng province. It sounds like a fantastic opportunity for any budding coders and robotics enthusiasts to show off their skills and compete in what the department calls “four epic” challenges. While we don’t have all the details on what those challenges entail, the enthusiasm is certainly infectious!
This kind of initiative is so important because it helps to demystify coding and robotics for young people, making it accessible and fun. These skills are increasingly valuable in today’s world, and giving students the chance to develop them early on can open up a whole range of opportunities later in life.
