PYEI Phase 6 Application 2025

PYEI Phase 6 Application 2025: South Africa’s Bold Leap Towards Ending Youth Unemployment – What’s New and How You Can Benefit.
As the Presidential Youth Employment Intervention enters its sixth year, groundbreaking innovations and record-breaking achievements are transforming the lives of young South Africans. Here’s everything you need to know.
In a nation where youth unemployment has long been a pressing challenge, the Presidential Youth Employment Intervention (PYEI) has emerged as a beacon of hope. Since its launch in 2020, the PYEI has been a game-changer, creating over 1.57 million earning opportunities for young South Africans. As we step into PYEI Phase 6 Application 2025, the initiative is set to scale even greater heights, with innovative strategies and expanded partnerships aimed at empowering the youth like never before.
What’s New in PYEI Phase 6 Application 2025?
According to the Deputy Minister in the Presidency Nonceba Mhlauli speech, the 2025 iteration of the PYEI might build on the successes of previous years while introducing fresh, dynamic approaches to tackle youth unemployment. Here are the key highlights:
- Expanded Pathway Management Network (PMN):
Leveraging technology through platforms like SAYouth.mobi, the PYEI aims to surpass the milestone of 2 million opportunities matched to young job seekers by the end of 2025. - Demand-Led Training 2.0:
The ‘pay for performance’ model, which rewards training providers based on job placement outcomes, is being revamped. In 2025, the focus will shift to high-growth sectors such as renewable energy, digital technology, and green economy jobs. This ensures that young people are equipped with skills that are not only in demand today but will also remain relevant in the future. - Revitalised National Youth Service (NYS) Expansion:
The NYS, which has already placed over 82,000 young people in service opportunities, is expanding its reach. In 2025, with the revitalised NYS now in full swing, this year’s target is to engage over 100,000 youth in service opportunities that not only build skills but also strengthen community development. - Local Ecosystem Enablement Fund (LEEF) Boost:
The LEEF, designed to stimulate local economies, will receive a significant funding boost in 2025. This will enable more young entrepreneurs to access grants, mentorship, and resources to start and grow their businesses. The goal is to create self-sustaining economic hubs in communities across the country. - Jobs Boost Outcomes Fund Success Stories:
The R300 million Jobs Boost Outcomes Fund, launched in 2023, has already placed over 1,600 young people in quality jobs. In PYEI Phase 6 Application 2025, the fund will expand its reach, targeting rural areas and marginalised communities. The fund’s unique outcome-based model ensures that resources are directed towards programmes that deliver real, measurable results.
Record-Breaking Achievements in 2024
The 2024 results set the stage for an even more impactful 2025. Key achievements include:
- Over 53,379 earning opportunities created in Q3 alone, bringing the total to 1.57 million since the PYEI’s inception.
- More than 38,864 young people accessed opportunities via the SA Youth platform, with an additional 14,515 through ESSA.
- The Youth Employment Service (YES) placed 10,337 youth in workplace experiences, while the NYDA and DSBD supported 14,600 young entrepreneurs.
- The Revitalised NYS Phase 3 launched successfully, recruiting 13,568 new participants.

The PYEI Phase 6 Application 2025 is not just a government initiative – it’s a national movement. For those still in schools in South Africa and interested in participating in the Presidential Youth Employment Initiative (PYEI) or benefiting from its programs, there are a few pathways to explore:

A Message of Hope:
As President Cyril Ramaphosa emphasised in his 2025 State of the Nation Address, “The future of our nation lies in the hands of our young people. By investing in their potential, we are building a stronger, more inclusive South Africa.”
The 2025 PYEI is more than just a programme – it’s a promise to the youth of South Africa. A promise of opportunity, growth, and a brighter future. Together, we can turn the tide on youth unemployment and create a nation where every young person can thrive.
