Deputy Minister Visits Unathi Secondary School for Monitoring
School inspections are a vital part of ensuring that every child receives the best possible education, no matter where they live. This week, the South African Department of Basic Education (DBE) has been out and about, checking in on schools and seeing how things are progressing.
Deputy Minister of Basic Education, Dr Reginah Mhaule, recently visited Unathi Secondary School in East London, Eastern Cape. The visit, which took place in the Buffalo City Metropolitan District, was a monitoring exercise to assess the school’s performance and identify any areas where support might be needed. Dr Mhaule wasn’t alone; she was joined by the Executive Mayor, Councillor Ms Princess. It’s great to see local officials working together to improve the education system.
The DBE regularly conducts these kinds of visits to get a firsthand look at the challenges and successes happening in schools across the country. You can see a post about the visit to Unathi Secondary School on X, formerly known as Twitter, here. It’s important to acknowledge the hard work of teachers and school staff, and these visits provide an opportunity to do just that.
