Celebrating Young Voices: iNkosi Albert Luthuli Oral History National Awards in East London
It’s fantastic to see young people engaging with history and the arts! The South African Department of Basic Education (DBE) is currently hosting the 2025 iNkosi Albert Luthuli Oral History National Awards Ceremony in East London, Eastern Cape. This event celebrates the talents of learners from across the country in various creative fields.
Over the past couple of days, students have been showcasing their abilities in categories such as Young Historian, African Poetry, Western Poetry, Storytelling, Story Writing, and Letter Writing. It’s a brilliant initiative that encourages children to explore their heritage, develop their writing and performance skills, and build confidence. You can see some photos from the event on the DBE’s Twitter feed: DBE Twitter.
These kinds of programmes are vital for fostering a love of learning and preserving important cultural narratives. Well done to all the participants and organisers! For more school news and interesting articles, be sure to check out SchoolClick News.
