Dr Reginah Mhaule, the Deputy Minister of Basic Education, gave a passionate speech at the 2025 iNkosi Albert Luthuli Oral History National Competition, highlighting the vital role such initiatives play in education.
Dr Mhaule stressed the significance of 2025 as a “year of unity and solidarity,” a theme perfectly aligned with the goals of the competition. She painted a picture of South Africa as a source of hope, showing the world that peaceful solutions and democratic processes can triumph over conflict.
The Deputy Minister also noted how far South Africa’s democracy has come, thanks to the establishment of representative legislatures. These bodies are turning the promises of the constitution into real, memorable events, constantly reminding everyone of the progress made towards freedom and equality.
